Oshawa Generals Game

Took my wife, Wenda to an Oshawa Generals game. Its great hockey for reasonable price.

Amber and Josh

Amber came by for a visit today.  She brought her boyfriend Josh who is actually known to us. Wenda taught Josh in grade 2. They showed us their 'promise' ring. They seemed quite happy together. In spite of her time off in hospital she has managed to keep good grades in her first term at college.

Christmas Pictures 2012

Wenda and I arrived with our grandson Anton to Tracy's home about 7am in order to get settled before the kids came down the stairs. The kids were great. This was Lilly's first time to really get into it. She was so amazed to see all the presents that had magically appeared under the tree overnight. It sure did not take her long for Lilly to get the hang of opening up presents.
 In preparing these pics tonight, I was struck by how much older Aiden is looking - childhood is such a fleeting state ... for most people !

Funny Hats

It's 11am and we are still opening gifts. The girls got these cute winter hats. Lexy's hat has sequins all over.

Lilly's Christmas

It's the first year for Lilly to open presents. Her eyes were as big as saucers when she came downstairs first thing this morning.

After two hours waiting in line, we get 1 minute with the fat man himself.

Merry Christmas 2012

It has been an amazing year. We managed to survive the 6 months of house shaking due to the construction of a 'No Frills' store just behind us, Plenty of good times with 'our friends'. I've managed to drop some serious weight, and our grandkids are just amazing.  Life is good and we look forward to a great year in 2013. We wish you and your family all the best for the holiday season.

Now I wonder if I can get through this holiday season without packin on the pounds!

Miss Troublemaker

Its hard to keep Miss Lilly out of the kitchen drawers. Everything gets dumped on the floor and rubber bands on the knobs that were supposed to keep her out of the drawers, just become musical instruments for strumming.

A Strainer for a Hat

Lilly gets into everything. This morning she went into the cupboard, pulled out the collapsible strainer and pulls it over her head. She is so funny sometimes.

Terry Turns 40

Life presents milestones that cannot be denied. No use in crying about it. Go out and celebrate it. So we took Terry, Natalie, and Anton out to Milestones mmmmmm good food. Nice celebration!

Quinten's Goal

 

 

Quinten scored his first goal this year while we were away at Aiden's hockey tournament in Detroit. This time, I was there and ready with my camera to capture his goal. When Aiden was up against Newcastle, Aiden's team always had a difficult time trying to win against Newcastle. This time, Quin scored the winning goal as they won 4 to 3.

What a Goal

Last weekend we were at the Nations Cup Tournament in Detroit. Our boys were up against guys that were a year older and from 2 or 3 levels above us. Nevertheless, Aiden managed to get 3 goals on them. This is one of the sweetest. Aiden was taking the puck along the boards with a defender running parallel to him. Aiden picked up the speed and went around the guy, swung in front of the net and shot the puck in the opening just under the blocker. You can see the puck on its way to the net just under the goalie's blocker.

Here is the back of his jersey. He's up against AA teams that are quite good

Gushing Boy

The hockey team were all acting like a bunch of 9 year olds in the water park. I do not think thus is an expected use of the water fountain but what the heck... as I said, they are 9 year olds!

Lilly will crawl into the darnest places. Then she yells when she gets stuck like she did here on the Lazy Susan in the cupboard.

Lilly had put on the vampire's cape from Halloween and was running around the living room flapping  thw cape saying ooooohh ooooohh!

Lilly's First Sucker

Its interesting to watch those little milestones in life. Lilly saw Aiden have one and immediately said "Please!" in sign language.

Nick Gets Baptised

We were honoured to attend the baptism of Wenda's neice Amanda's son Nick. In the picture you see Amanda's husband Ron, their first child Mickayla as well as Amanda and Nick. The ceremony was held as part of the regular service in Faith United Church. Nick was a doll, never fussing even when he was being held by strangers. A Lilly in The Garden

 

 There have been some very fine fall days in October this year and Lilly took advantage of that fine weather to go exploring in the front garden.  She has only been walking on her own a short time and now, the whole world is her oyster and even iron gates cannot hold her back as she has learned to open the child-proof locks. Doreen's Birthday

We went to Lindsay today to celebrate Wenda's mom, Doreen's 86 birthday. Just like her daughter, Doreen loves Swarofsky jewellery. It sure does sparkle with the camera flash.

New Fence

Our back yard is chanving in appearance with the new fence 'No Frills' is installing. Its 8 feet tall and made from 2 x 6 red cedar toungue in grove planks. Its very solid and no gaps.

Little Leafs Fan

Lilly has been a hockey fan all her life. Now she is showing her colours even as the hockey season is in jeapardy. Lilly will see lots of hockey though as both her brothers play in leagues.

Thanksgiving Dinner

It has been a busy day with Quinten's hockey practice, and Aiden's hockey game. Their team is on a bit of a winning streak.  Found this pretty leaf which is so emblamatic of the season.

11th Place

In the regional cross country harrier race Aiden placed 11th out of 101 entrants. We are very proud of him.

Move 3 Floors of Scaffolding Fast

They are really fast at constructing the new "No Frills" behind our house. Here they took 3 floors of scaffolding intact to the other side of the building.

Little Monkey

Lilly is kind of a showoff and athletic like Aiden was. Now that she is walking, just imagine all the trouble this little one will be getting into.

Another Skater

Today was a great day on the ice for the Cupelli kids. Lexy had her first figure skating lesson and Aiden scored 3 goals over 2 tournament games in Scarborough.

Pushy Kid

Lilly is getting to be quite physical. Tracy said she was pushing Aiden on her buggy so fast  that she could hardly get the picture.

On Her High Horse

Lilly loves to get on her bouncy horse. She gets on and off quite well on her own.

Colin and Jennifer Maude

Can love conquer all?  We attended the wedding of Colin and Jennifer Maude at Irwin Inn on Stoney Lake. A light rain could not dampen their spirits and the wedding proceeded as planned in this idealic cottage country setting.  As you can see, the groom arrived in a "James Bond" fashion. After the ceremony, both bride and groom made a surprise arrival on water skiis. It was a lovely wedding, and a good time was had by all.

Wenda's Childhood Treehouse

Many moons ago when Wenda was 12 or 13 she would spend hours at a time hidden away reading in her tree house on her aunt and uncle's island.

SKIPPING AT 92

What would you do to celebrate your 92nd birthday?  Lexy and Aiden visited Grammy and Grampy to help celebrate both Lexy's 5th birthday and Ken's 92nd. Lexy got a new skipping rope and guess who was the first to go out on the patio and use it.  Not bad Ken!  You must be living right !!!

Driving Miss Lilly

Lilly got a walker for her first birthday and it made me wonder how many of us use them on our last birthday. It kinda reminded me of the thousands year old "Riddle of the Sphynx".

Not to be outdone, Lilly has on her princess gown and tiara as well.

Since both Lexy and Lilly have birthdays so close together, its best to have one big girls party. So there is a huge jumping castle complete with slide and a huge Hip of Beef on a gigantic BBQ.
