On a Cruise

Wenda and I were joined by our friends David and Sharon for a cruise on the renown Muskoka lakes where the rich and famous of Canada have their summer homes. We sailed on the royal mail ship Segwun on a day that threatened to rain, but waited. It waited for us to have our scenic time on the rear deck, our dinner in the dining lounge and just long enough to reach our car. We then dodged those drops of liquid sunshine on and off during our visit to the boat museum just across the harbour from our ship. Latest Lilly

Of course the features of a newborn change so fast in the first few weeks of life.  Here is Lilly taken today with the cell phone camera.  She likes to sleep by day and stay up and fuss all night. We stayed till after 3 am last night to rock her while mom got some sleep.  Been draggin our buts all day today but the little darlin is worth it.

Lady Luck Comes a Callin

She visited me last year about the same time. ... Waving a pair of $100 tickets in my face and saying, "Hey sailor! Want to have a good time? "  So here Aiden and I are sitting in the Air Canada Centre. Lady luck made the same proposition a year later.
Funny coincidence though. Aiden's teammate from his rep hockey team is in the row behind us.

Engagement Celebration

Today we celebrated Wenda's nephew Colin's engagement to his fianceé Jenn, with the happy day penned in on the calendar for July 21st. Hobarts in Lindsay is a lovely steak house and a great place for the happy couple to celebrate with grandmother Eileen, great aunt Doreen and great uncle Ken, without forgetting aunt Wenda and uncle Allan. We wish them all the happiness in life and may all their troubles be "little ones".

The Nutmeg Move

Aiden played his second REP game, in Trenton Ontario. Last time he faced a defenceman head on, the opponent poke-checked him and he did not want that to happen again so when he got close, he did "a Nutmeg" manouever by shooting the puck through the defenders legs and skating around him. The team lost the game but gained valuable playing experience. It is a bit of adjustment travelling the distances now that the REP teams go. Wenda and I love to go to the games and cheer.

First Game of the Season

On Saturday, Aiden played his first game as a Toro the local REP hockey team. He plays right winger in the Novice 'A' team. Since this is an exhibition game, and it is the first for the team, there was not a whole lot of team organization. Each is a skilled player, but it will take a bit more training to be successful as they were beaten 4 to zero in this first outing. Aiden had a couple break-aways with shots on their net but no goals. Its early yet and we can sure see his skills improving greatly with the training sessions.

First Day of School 2011

Yup, its the first day of school and I am sure glad that it is not me going ... LOL. Quin and Aiden today and Lexy will go with Aiden on the other days as both Quin starts SK and Lexy will be going to JK. Aiden is starting grade 3 ina 3/4 class.

Hello Kitty Cake

One of the promises we made to Lexy was a "Hello Kity" cake from her Nana. With all the distraction of her little sister Lilly's arrival, we could not have her cake until today. A few friends dropped by to help her blow out the candle. Click here to see the cake.

Princess Swing

Today Frank and Tracy went out to get a baby monitor and a swing for Lilly. The technology sure has improved since Aiden was born. Here we have the "Princess Swing" with a 110 volt plug for the mechanical mechanism up top. It plays quite a variety of songs, swings the seat, rotates the mobile around and up and down, and at night projects stars on to the baby. The baby monitor has the sensors for her breathing rate, and a camera with infra red night time illumination. There is a 10 inch monitor that sits on a stand downstairs so you can see the baby at all times on the monitor even though the baby is on the floor above. There is also a mobile monitor that you carry on your belt to a range of 350 feet and it has alarms plus a small video monitor so you can see the baby even if you are out of the house. The technology is amazing!

Old Lady's Hands

At first examination these would appear to be the hands of an elderly lady. They are actually the wrinkled hands of Lilly, just a day old. Yes, Lillian came home from the hospital today and was greeted by her family. Quinten is a bit reluctant to hold her still, but Lexy can't get enough of holding her baby sister. Lilly Arrived

At about 5:10 this morning she arrived at the Oshawa hospital. Mother and child
are doing well. 7 lb 15 oz
