Grandkids Visit

After a cool spring, our flower garden is finally in bloom. It makes a nice backdrop for a group picture of our grandkids. Aiden is staying for a sleep-over so his brother and sister had a long visit with us today as well. For me, the first few days of retirement are feeling quite nice. Staples' Cottage

It was a lovely Saturday at the cottage of our friends David and Sharon Staples. Here you see the chef extraordinaire hard at work at a culinary delight. Phil, Bev and their daughter Deanna were also there and we had a splendid day enjoying their sandy beach, warm water and above all the friendly gathering of the group. Retired

It was my last day at work. I had been cleaning out my lessons, filing cabinets, storage cabinets for weeks. I'll bet there were 15 recycle bins that went to the dumpster. What had been valuable pieces of paper for teaching yesterday are just trash today as I turn to a new direction. I suppose that it will take a while to get used to this new direction.

Cousins

It has been 18 years since Wenda has seen her cousin Linda who lives in the States. Linda's mom Ursula, who now lives in California is the younger sister to Ken Aston. Linda and her husband Al spend much of their time RV'ing where the sunshine and and the fishin is good in the southern states. 65th Wedding Anniversary

Ken and Doreen Aston celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at our place on Sunday. It was a wonderful gathering of family to celebrate their union together. Click here to see more pictures of the celebration.

One of Aiden's first soccer games of the season was a good opportunity for him to get active again in sports. He has some pretty good players on his team this year so there will be lots of competition for these scoring opportunities. Frank is his coach and the emphasis is on developing skills such as passing and position. Aiden scored a couple goals, but his teamates did as well and it was a pretty well rounded team effort.
