Lilly's First Present

Two days and still no hydro. The entire town is without power and no utility vehicles in site.

We've been without power for 24 hours. An inch of ice everywhere. Broken tree limbs crashing down every minute. What a mess !!!

Mudsucker Returns

Our street is closed, and it looks like the entire fleet of hydro equipment has invaded. In front of our house, the mudsucker is at work to find buried services to our house, a backhoe is digging a trench for the 44,000 volt line, and a pole truck has another crew working. Hydro feels this job will be done in 2013 ... ????

Can't Take Her Anywhere

It was a quiet day in Canadian Tire, and I was teasing Lilly that I would take her raisins. She got even with me in the checkout. She points at my nose and says "booger".  A few minutes later we are in Walmart, it's quiet and while pushing Lilly, I pass a relatively quiet wiffle. Lilly shouts out "Papa fart!!!". It sad her first day using that word.

Griswalds of Pickering

I'm our way back from Niagara the bus driver was persuaded to drive by "Griswald Lane" in south Pickering. Two houses have an annual competition to see which one CA have the biggest display. I pitty the poor guy in the house in between.

Christmas Show Niagara Falls

For the last few years, we have gone to Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls to see the spectacular Christmas show, courtesy of our friends David and Sharon Staples. This year there was an ice revue on two ice surfaces.  It was a fantastic show with singing and dancing. What a show!!!! 

Low Rider

On a put stop to Niagara Falls today, we saw this neat custom truck. It had an air tank in the rear with 4 lines going from it to the air shocks. This one was owned by the kids mother.

My Tablet

Lilly can use Wenda's tablet to do colouring. She loads the program, changes pictures, and can select different programs to colour with. Try take it away and you hear " My Tablet". And she's only 2 year's old!!!!

400 Tons

It took 3 tractor trailer trucks just to bring the counter-weights for this giant 400 ton crane to set up across the street from our house. Then the giant transformers will arrive and be lifted onto the concrete pad of the new hydro sub station. After that they will build the walls and roof around it.

Operation Christmas Child

Each year, I volunteer in Kitchener, for a charitable organization that sends gift boxes the size of shoe boxes to children all over the world. I have heard from adults who as children received these boxes at a time when they would normally just get one orange for Christmas.  Our shift today, sorted and packed over 4,000 of the boxes.

Silver Medal

Aiden had a great time at Lake Placid with his Can/Am hockey tournament. On the last day after the tournament, Tracy, Frank and Aiden went down the bobsled run with a driver up front and a brakeman in the back. Quite the weekend.

The Missing Part

Lexy came home from school with a different smile today.

House Update

Tracy n Frank's addition is well underway. The stucco base coat (I we styrofoam) is up on the second floor. Today the masonry workers are laying the stonework on the main floor.

I spent the afternoon getting Santa's sleigh for the Newcastle Santa Parade on Sunday night.

Aiden Making Sugar Cookies

I volunteered to help the French teacher do a cooking lesson at Aiden's school.

Fistpumps

Aiden and I went to the local Junior C Eagles game. These semi pro players are big brothers to the boys on Aiden's team. At the end of the game he crawls between the railing to do fist bumps with "the guys".

Beats NHL Record for Hat Trick

CLARINGTON -- A Clarington boy was on a hockey high after scoring a natural hat trick, three goals, in just 19 seconds during a tournament last weekend.

Ten-year-old Aiden Cupelli, a centre for the Clarington atom A Toros, was playing in the Avalanche Minor Sports Thanksgiving Tournament at York University on Oct. 11 against the Goulding Park Rangers when it happened.

“In the second period he came on for a shift and he scored a goal and another goal and a third, the time from the first goal to the third goal was just 19 seconds,” said Aiden’s proud grandfather, Allan Kirby.

Almost a World Record

Aiden had an amazing hockey game at the York University Campus today. He scored 3 goals in one shift. According to the official game sheet it was just 19 seconds between the first goal and his third goal.
A quick internet search tells us that the quickest hat-trick in minor hockey was 35 seconds then a boy from Cobourg broke that record at 14 seconds three year's ago, and I guess it still stands because Aiden's were 19 seconds apart. That all happened in the second period. In the third period Aiden scored another 2 goals on the same shift just seconds apart. Final score 6 to 0 with Aiden scoring 5 of them.

Aiden's Mentor

Blaine plays OHL junior C hockey for the Clarington Eagles. Aiden is so excited! Aiden gets a free pass to all the home games, and he gets to email his buddy for technical help. At 6'4" and 225 lbs its nice to have a big brother.

Don't Turn Your Back an Instant

Lilly can get into trouble in no time at all. First she opens a waist-height drawer then before you know it she has climbed into the drawer, with full access to the counter.

Aiden's Chip Shot

This summer Aiden's soccer team was featured on the local cable tv channel as the game of the week. Aiden had a great "Chip Shot" goal in the game.

Silver Medalists

This team accomplished a miracle today. Last year they did not even make the playoffs, and now they took the Silver Medal in a pre-season tournament in Toronto. The gold medal game went 6 minutes in to overtime before Whitby Blue got the winning goal. Boys, you should be very proud of what you have accomplished.

Going for Gold

Aiden has been having a terrific success at the Markham Waxers Tournament. They are undefeated in all three of their games, and will be returning for the Gold Medal round of competition on Sunday. Here they are winning against the Oakville Rangers, a team which won the Ontario AE level championship last year. On Sunday, they face the Burlington team which won the OMHA championship last year. Wish us luck!

Aiden's friend Owen came for a visit after their hockey game this morning. Aiden got a goal and an assist.

Lilly The Sorcerer

In our haste to get Aiden to his hockey game, we forgot Lilly's jacket. Wenda put her fleecy on her folding the sleeves in half to do it. The jacket stretched all the way to the floor. Lilly looked Merlin the Sorcerer.
