Quinten's Last Soccer Match

Quinten has easily been the best player in his league up until today when he came up against an opponent with the same zeal and drive as himself. When they played on the same shift opposite each other, it got a bit physical. I must say Quinten was a gentleman and behaved honourably. You can see from the red face that he was playin hard and thoroughly enjoyed his season of soccer. Yesterday at swim lessons, he took a flying leap off the diving board ... click here to see more pics

SWIM LESSONS BEGIN

The kids started swim lessons this week. Last year the weather was not very good and we skipped the swim lessons, so it is all the more important that the kids get back into the program. This is Lexy's first lesson and she seems to be enjoying it. The boys on the other hand are quickly into the fun of jumping into the pool and learning their floats and strokes. CHALKDUSTER COTTAGE

Wenda and I were invited to a BBQ of family and friends of David and Sharon Staples, close friends of ours. It was a perfect day of warm weather with occasional breezes. Good food and good company - what more could you ask for? We thank our friends David and Sharon for sharing their bounty with us. Click here to see some more pics of the fun at the cottage.

Find Me 39 Years Ago

A friend of mine, Sudsy, was married 39 years ago, and I was there in Hawkesbery, ON for his wedding. He sent me this picture today. Can you find me in the picture? Have I changed much?

Our Anniversary

We have known each other for nearly 19 years and married for the last 16. Wenda's parents took us out to dinner in Lindsay for our anniversary tonight. The best thing that ever happened to me is meeting Wenda in university. I am indeed the lucky one. Thanks to Ken and Doreen for taking us to Hobarts - a great steak house.

A Busy Day 4 Kids

A few blocks away from our place is a nice little neighborhood park with a splash pad and some playground equipment. We took the grandkids out there this afternoon for a little fun. Later on it was time for the practice session of Aiden's house league team, and to top the evening - it was Frank's birthday today. Click here to see more pics.

Front Page News

Last week, I was interviewed by the local newspaper that covers the Municipality of Clarington (80,000 pop) which is part of Durham Region (450,000 pop), that area East  of Toronto. I was surprised to see that it was a front page news article.... Click here to see the news article and picture.

They Tied The Knot

Tracy and Frank had their wedding on Saturday and I was the photographer. Of course I had the help of my trusty assistant Philip, and together we worked the wedding from early morning until the wee hours of the morning. This was an Italian wedding with lots and lots of food - more than I could eat. Everyone had a super time, including the kids. The slide show ends with Tracy's address to the guests and her speach was just a great bit of inspiration - tears and all. Click here to see the pictures of the wedding.

Wedding Rehearsal

The wedding rehearsal went just fine with Frank exchanging a few jokes with Father Bill, who is a long time family friend of Frank. After the rehearsal we went to a rehearsal party put on by Tracy's friend Janice. The kids played in the back yard while the adults got together in a relaxing social environment. A GOAL AND A WIN

Aiden had a good workout tonight - red faced and sweaty. The opposing team had a well skilled player from Aiden's REP team and it was Aiden's job as sweeper to shut him down. That he did and managed to get a goal of his own as Aiden's team won 5-2. Click here to see a few more pictures from the game.

Birthday & Retired

Wenda's brother Warren had some help with his double celebration today. Turning 60 and retiring at the same time is a memorable event, so we came over to help with the party. In addition to his mom and dad Ken and Doreen you see Warren's twins Eric and Amanda. You also can see the red haired granddaughter Mickayla along with our grandkids Quinten and Lexy. You can see the kids smiling because as soon as the camera guy finishes ... we all get yummy cake. Click here to see a few more pics of Warren and his birthday.

Stanley Cup Arrives

Bryan Bickell was a small town kid from our community that made it all the way to the top of the NHL. I remember when the kids in my classes used to tell me "I do not need to do this work, I'm going to be an NHL star. I'd say "Yeah Right!" Well son of a gun, one of those kids did indeed make it all the way. Today he brought the cup back to the small town of Orono to celebrate, and all the big city media came to see as well. I was on duty with the parade committee directing the floats in the parade grounds, but I managed to get a picture or two. Click here to see more pictures.

Hot Daze

How do you break an official "Heat Wave" ... you head to the splash park. We can learn a lot from kids playing in a water park. Today the humidex was over 40 C and the kids were having a ball running and splashing in the water. This park is just 6 or so blocks from our place and it is really popular with the kids and parents on hot days. Click here to see more pictures in the waterpark.

Wenda Now Mobile

This is a test shot that I did to see if my new camera and radio communication with the remote flash. In this case I have Wenda with her back to the sun ... she would normally be quite dark, but I have the flash to fill in. It seems to be working pretty well without any fidgeting. So you can see that Wenda is now into a smaller more stylish boot for the wedding ... but can we dance?

The Reddest Face on the Team

The humidex readings were into the 40's and Aiden's team was up against a good goalie and a coordinated team when they lost their first game of the season yesterday. You can tell Aiden was working extremely hard in the heat by the colour of his face. He was on most of the time and was getting pretty tired running the full length of the field in that heat. In spite of it all, he did score a goal. Click here to see more pictures of the game.

Lexy Can't Wait

Lexy put on her dress for the wedding today and instantly became the magic princess. She twirled around in it and started lifting the outer fabric to make the dress spin out even further. I grabbed a few pictures then tweaked them a bit in the software to enhance the colours.
Click here to see a few more pics of Lexy in her new dress.
